Photographic Tip Number 9

Gaining some height for either a different view or for events can be fun and adds a totally different perspective on your subject. If you don’t have a drone, like I do (and anyway, they are hard to fly in central London due to the regulations), you need to ask permission to take pictures from tall buildings.

Besides tall buildings, another good source is your local church, which I use a lot, as with the shots of the Great River Race above, which were taken from St Mary’s in Putney.

The view from Putney Wharf. I have got to know one or two people in the Wharf and I have taken some lovely pictures from this amazing vantage point.

So, its good to remember that when you pass that tall building or your local church, it could act as your next prop. That’s as long as you are not afraid of heights that is.
