Photographic Tip Number 11

Light is key to any good photograph and although I have stressed this in a previous tip, a recent visit to Cannizaro Park highlighted this for me and I thought I would share it with you.

On a recent unplanned visit to Cannizaro Park, I was astounded to find some rich autumn colour but being late in the day, the light wasn’t great. I therefore made a mental note to come back as soon as I could, preferably earlier in the day and when there was some guaranteed sunshine.

Autumn is a particularly good time to illustrate the importance of light, as some sunshine really makes the foliage zing! See the images above and below, each taken within days of each other but the top ones late in the day. I hope you agree that the light really improves things.

So its a good idea to check the weather forecast before you plan any of your trips, especially at this time of year, as a little sunshine can make or break a picture. Good luck with your picture taking and please let me know if you need any help or advice?
